Spring Garden Care and Dividing Perennials

Join us as at the Library Garden Club meeting at the Waterford Township Library.The library is in the Waterford township office campus, off Crescent Lake Road north of Tubbs Road. 

There is no membership fee and no obligation when you attend Library Garden Club meetings on the second Wednesday of each month, just education and fun. We focus on learning by doing. Anyone interested can attend for a workshop, all or part of a hands-on gardening session, one meeting or many.

Garden Math: Dividing Perennials
From April through October we meet from 4:30 to 8 pm to first tend the Children's Sensory Gardens we've created, learning hands-on about maintaining and continually evolving a large perennial garden. Today our business is to prune trees and shrubs, remove winter protections (if you haven't yet seen it, you will simply not believe the dragon we created to protect our Japanese maple!), assess any winter damage, and weed and tend perennials. After tending the gardens we move to the library meeting room for refreshments and today's educational session, Garden Math: Dividing Perennial Plants.

Join us as at the Library Garden Club meeting at the Waterford Township Library. The library is in the Waterford township office campus, off Crescent Lake Road north of Tubbs Road.

Predicting Problems
We meet from 4:30 to 6 pm to tend the Children's Sensory Gardens we've created, learning hands-on about maintaining and continually evolving a large perennial garden. Today our business is to plant new perennials and annuals so you'll be able to see and practice successful techniques. We're also inspecting plants and teh garden closely to predict trouble we might see and head it off at the pass.

Which is why our 6:00 to 8:00 pm educational session is Predicting Problems: Everything you need to predict and prevent trouble in a garden can be seen in May, if you know what to look for. Join Janet and Steven as they help you develop that eye for trouble.

Learning from a Living Landscape

Janet will be stationed at an Ann Arbor garden where she has played a part in designing and planting, as it is shown as part of the annual Ann Arbor Garden Club Tour. In a large garden on a wooded lot Janet will answer questions about design, planting and tending the garden. Open to those purchasing a ticket for the garden tour (proceeds to horticultural scholarships awarded by the club). Tickets are available at participating Ann Arbor merchants including the Downtown Home and Garden Center.
