Call us spoiled but when we buy a plant we want to know what kind it is! How disappointing to see that indoor plants (houseplants, tropicals, foliage plants) at the "home" stores are not labeled at all. There, where even the smallest screw or bolt on the shelves has a name and a sticker, plants rate lower than the least of the manufactured items.
Variegated Moses-in-the-cradle (a.k.a. boat lily; Tradescantia spathacea variegata) resembles spider plant (below: Chlorophytum comosum) and both are low care indoor plants. So if you were shopping from a photo or a memory and had only nameless plants to choose from, you might end up with either one. Yet only the Tradescantia will provide purple highlights, and only in a bright location. Spider plant is much more reliable in dimmer situations.
